Surgery and Laser Surgery

Surgery:
Our two well-equipped surgical suites permit a wide range of surgeries

  • neutering - spaying
  • cesarean sections
  • tumor removal - tumor resections
  • wound repair
  • abdominal surgeries
  • bloats
  • splenectomy
  • thoracic surgery
  • thyroidectomies
  • orthopedic including - cruciates - femoral head resections
  • urethrotomy

State of the art anesthetics are used to insure pain free surgery and a rapid recovery. Patients requiring major surgery are monitored throughout with cardiac and respiratory monitors.

Laser Surgery:
Laser surgery is utilized where precision technique is required and to alleviate pain, bleeding and swelling. It is highly effective for

  • cat declaw
  • neuter
  • tumor removal

Three tumors in a cat's ear (photo above left) were removed by laser surgery (photo above right). Laser surgery speeds recovery eliminating the need for multiple pain killing injections.

Pain Management
Managing your pet's pain is critical to a good recovery. Duragesic Fentenyl pain patches are used to ease post-operative pain or discomfort: they provide pain relief for up to four days.

Rehabilitation Therapy
The doctors and staff of the West Chester Veterinary Medical Center recognize the importance of rehabilitation therapy in

  • reducing pain;
  • improving comfort;
  • speeding recovery; and
  • returning to function

following any orthopedic or soft tissue surgery.

Through veterinary rehabilitative care, animals are benefiting from many of the same treatment protocols and technologies utilized in human physical therapy with the same outstanding results. Please explore our West Chester Veterinary Rehabilitation Specialty Center: click here
